About the role:
The Head of Quality defines and leads the Quality Assurance function for our fintech products, ensuring rigorous Manual QA governance while designing, implementing, and scaling Automation QA processes. The role is accountable for risk-based test strategy, test design standards, release quality gates, and the selection and adoption of automation frameworks and tooling integrated into CI/CD. Partnering with Engineering, Product, and Compliance, the Head of Quality safeguards release reliability, regulatory alignment and delivery velocity across payments and tax workflows, while developing the capabilities and performance of the QA organization.
What you’ll own:
- QA strategy & governance: test pyramid, entry/exit criteria, Definition of Done, risk-based coverage.
- Manual QA excellence: standards for test case design, exploratory testing, boundary/negative testing, and regression depth.
- Automation QA processes: architecture, toolchain, coding standards, CI/CD integration, coverage targets, and reporting.
- People leadership: team structure, hiring, coaching, performance management, and career paths.
- Environments & test data: stability, masking, seeding, and payment/tax sandbox orchestration.
- Quality metrics & reporting: release readiness dashboards, defect analytics, and post-release health.
- Compliance alignment: QA controls supporting PCI-DSS-relevant changes and secure SDLC practices.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain a risk-based test strategy for core flows (authentication, KYC, payments, refunds, reconciliation, tax filing).
- Elevate Manual QA practices: define playbooks, review cadences, sampling plans, and monthly calibrations.
- Lead the Automation QA processes for API, UI, and integration layers; manage architecture, coding standards, and reviews.
- Integrate automated suites into CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps), enabling fast, reliable quality gates.
- Define and manage test data and environment strategies with DevOps to reduce flakiness and cycle time.
- Partner with Product/Engineering to translate acceptance criteria into testable conditions; oversee UAT readiness and release go/no-go.
- Lead root-cause analysis for escaped defects; drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to closure.
- Track and communicate quality KPIs to stakeholders; provide clear, decision-oriented release readiness reports.
- Collaborate with InfoSec/Compliance on QA aspects of PCI-DSS and secure change management.
- Build a learning culture: mentoring, guilds, brown-bag sessions; upskill Manual QAs to contribute to automation where appropriate.
Requirements:
- 5+ years in QA for products, including 3+ years leading QA leads/teams.
- Deep Manual QA expertise (test design techniques, exploratory testing, regression strategy) and proven ownership of Automation QA processes (API/UI/integration).
- Hands-on experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD and managing flaky tests at scale.
- Solid understanding of web services, databases, and observability; able to triage with engineers (read logs/stack traces, write basic SQL).
- Track record of improving defect leakage, regression cycle time, and release stability.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication (English B2+)
Preferred:
- Payment’s domain (card flows, 3-D Secure, chargebacks) and awareness of PCI-DSS implications for testing.
- Experience with common tools/frameworks (e.g., Playwright/Cypress/Selenium, REST-assured/Postman, pytest/JUnit, Allure/Extent, k6/JMeter).
- Exposure to performance, reliability, and security testing (partnering with specialists).
- Familiarity with Azure Devops, TestRail, feature flags, trunk-based development, and monitoring (Grafana/Sentry).
