Sprintax, part of Clune Tech, is a web-based tax return preparation software that provides a number of tax related services to non-residents in the United States. We help thousands of international visitors such as students, scholars, teachers, trainees, researchers, work and travel participants and other foreign individuals that are temporary in the United States each year with the preparation of their tax returns.
About the role:
Sprintax is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Junior QA Manual Tester to join our growing Quality Assurance team and support the delivery of reliable, high-quality software products.
This role is responsible for planning, preparing, and executing manual testing activities across Sprintax products to ensure they meet functional, quality, and usability requirements.
You will work closely with developers, Business Analysts, Product stakeholders, and other QA team members in an Agile environment – helping to identify defects early, improve test coverage, and contribute to a strong quality culture across the business.
Responsibilities:
Test Preparation, Analysis & Execution
Review requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to understand expected functionality and identify appropriate test conditions.
Create, maintain, and execute clear, structured manual test cases, test scenarios, and supporting test data.
Perform manual functional, regression, smoke, and basic integration testing for assigned features and releases.
Contribute to sprint and release test planning, including effort estimation, dependencies, risks, and required environments or data.
Ensure adequate test coverage for assigned user stories, features, and regression areas.
Record test execution results in a structured, complete, and traceable manner.
Defect Management & Quality Assurance
Log defects accurately in the defect tracking system with clear reproduction steps, expected vs actual results, screenshots, and supporting evidence.
Re-test resolved issues and perform targeted regression testing to verify that changes have not introduced new defects.
Monitor the status of logged issues and support timely resolution by providing additional detail where required.
Identify gaps in test coverage, usability concerns, inconsistencies, and edge cases, and raise them proactively.
Escalate quality concerns, testing blockers, and delivery risks in a timely and structured manner.
Collaboration & Delivery
Participate as an active member of an Agile cross-functional team (stand-ups, refinements, sprint planning, reviews, etc.).
Collaborate with developers, Business Analysts, Product Owners, and QA colleagues to ensure shared understanding of requirements and quality expectations.
Communicate testing progress, risks, blockers, and outcomes clearly and professionally.
Documentation, Process & Continuous Improvement
Maintain and improve QA documentation (test cases, regression packs, test evidence, templates, checklists, test data).
Follow and help improve QA standards, workflows, and documentation practices to increase consistency and efficiency.
Contribute to QA best practices and a continuous improvement mindset.
Build strong product and business flow knowledge to improve test relevance and quality.
Compliance & Security
Follow data protection, information security, and internal quality procedures when working with systems, environments, and test data.
Ensure testing activities are completed in line with agreed internal standards and processes.
Requirements:
Must have
Knowledge of QA processes and the testing lifecycle
QA certification or experience in a related QA position
Very good written and spoken English
Strong attention to detail
Takes initiative and supports quality process improvements
Experience with bug-tracking systems is a plus
Nice to have
Experience testing web-based applications
Familiarity with Jira (or similar tracking tools)
Experience with a test case management tool
Familiarity with API testing concepts/tools
Exposure to test automation concepts/tools
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
Basic knowledge of a programming/scripting language
